I'm looking to buy a car in Melbourne (i live in NSW), it has a few months of Victoria registration. The seller doesn't have a roadworthy certificate, and tells me that it isn't needed for the registration to be valid after i buy it. My understanding that was the roadworthy certificate was necessary for the registration to be transferred, which needs to be done if i buy it.
Anyone had experience with this, or ever bought a car without transferring the rego?Buying a Car in Victoria - Do i need to get a roadworthy Certificate?
In all eastern states, you need a roadworthy issued before the registration can be transfered.
Reg must be transfered into the new owners name within 14 days.
so a car bought from interstate will also require new plates and papers
